NSX Stainless Steel Finned Valve Cover Baffles

The factory Honda/Acura valve cover baffles do their job, but they have two problems: they’re thin, fragile, and once you remove them, there’s a pretty good chance they’re never going back in quite the same way.

That’s especially problematic when refinishing aging valve covers. Proper powder coating or refinishing means removing the factory baffle plates—and decades-old stamped metal doesn’t always appreciate being disturbed.

HCE Performance finned valve cover baffles are a stronger, smarter replacement designed to solve both problems.

The Problem

The OEM baffle plates are made from thin stamped metal and weren’t exactly designed with repeated removal in mind.

If you’re restoring or powder coating your valve covers, the plates need to come out. Removing them often leaves them bent, distorted, or looking like they lost a fight with a screwdriver.

And while the factory plates help manage crankcase oil vapor, their simple design does little to separate suspended oil droplets before crankcase gases are routed back toward the intake.

The result can be more oil making its way into the intake tract, oil contamination in the airbox/filter, and unnecessary oil consumption.

Not exactly where Honda intended the oil to live.

The HCE Solution

Our replacement baffles are made from robust stainless steel, so they can be installed, removed, and serviced without turning into modern art.

More importantly, we added a series of strategically positioned fins that create a more difficult path for oil-laden crankcase gases.

As the vapor changes direction around the fins, suspended oil droplets have more opportunity to collect on the baffle surfaces and drain back into the engine—where they belong—rather than continuing toward the intake.

Testing has shown a dramatic reduction in oil carryover.

The result:

• Less oil entering the intake

• Less air filter and airbox contamination

• Reduced unnecessary oil consumption

• Durable stainless-steel construction

• No more trying to flatten and reuse mangled OEM baffle plates

• A better solution for restored and powder-coated valve covers

Basically: more oil in the engine, less oil everywhere else.

Built to Be Serviced

Unlike the delicate factory plates, HCE baffles are designed with future serviceability in mind. If the valve covers need to come apart again, the baffles can be removed and reinstalled without treating them like archaeological artifacts.

Because if you’re going through the trouble of restoring your NSX valve covers, putting bent 30-year-old sheet metal back inside them seems like a strange place to stop.
